Yonge-Dundas Square had several booths and a fenced off green area for the dogs to wander freely while shelter dogs looked for their "forever families" and people could get free dog items. A portion of the sales of specially marked Pedigree dog food is to be donated to partner animal shelters across Canada - over $1 million dollars has been raised to date.
Thousands of dogs end up in animal shelters every year with many not being adopted by loving families. This campaign kicked off on Wednesday September 19, 2012 and hopes that Canadians help the shelter dogs by adopting, donating or volunteering.
"There are just too many dogs across Canada without a best friend to love them back," said Desman. "Animal shelters are the cornerstone to helping these homeless dogs find loving and caring families, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the 2012 PEDIGREE ADOPTION DRIVE® campaign to help raise awareness for the importance of dog adoption."
