People's Court Protest in #Toronto

The Public Service Alliance of Canada along with 'prosecuter' Sid Ryan of the Ontario Federation of Labour brought serious charges against some of the top political leaders in Ontario today in a people's court. The politicians couldn't make the protest so the protesters made the politicians (or at least their heads) - out of paper mache. The big sticking point for the unions were cuts to the public sector and today was part of the National Day of Action activities across Canada.
Four large heads were of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, Ontario Tory leader Tim Hudak and Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. The trial was for the various government 'anti-worker agendas and sweeping cuts to public services'. The event was held outside the actual Court House at 361 University Avenue. The 1pm protest took place on Saturday September 15, 2012.
"People are frustrated with our political leaders, who by taking away public and social services, are abandoning families during a very difficult economic time", states Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President for Ontario. "We are witnessing the loss of a generation of hard fought social gains, which is making it harder for ordinary people to make it day to day".
Other speakers included: Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President, Raul Burbano, Common Frontiers, Magdalena Diaz, Toronto Stop the Cuts, Fred Hahn, President of CUPE Ontario,
John Cartwright, President, Toronto and York Region Labour Council.
Sid Ryan and Judy Rebick
