Protests at Queen's Park

Several groups gathered at Queen's Park on Saturday August 18, 2012: An Al-Quds Day rally was countered by the Jewish Defense League while several other groups and individuals added their voices and flags to the crowd. Even the police brought some of their horses out for some fresh air. The annual Quds Day began in Iran in 1979 and falls on the last day of Ramadan. After gathering before the fenced off front steps of the building the rally then headed down University Avenue where they stopped across from the US Consulate.
The Flag of Love, above, is a universal symbol of hope that is a "non-political, non-religious, all-inclusive visual reminder of our human and spiritual oneness." I am glad that our culture and laws make peaceful protests acceptable ways to communicate varying points of view.
