Upcoming St Lawrence War of 1812 events

Events in Ontario are heating up for the commemoration of the 2012 Bicentennial of the War of 1812. Luckily the conflict was a mere blink in time and the normal friendly relationship between Canada and the United States returned quickly. In fact if our countries were people - we would have been married by now!
On June 18, 1812 America declared war, for the first time ever, and on July 12 the Amercians marched into Canada, with battles ranging around the Niagara Region, the real Golden Horseshoe, through GYA (the Greater York Area) and onto the Great Lakes and the St Lawrence River.

Next week from June 29 to July 1, 2012 features the largest naval reenactment to be held during Bicentennial Celebrations with the Flight of the Royal George at Fort Henry in Kingston, just a couple hours east of Toronto - which is part of the St Lawrence War of 1812 Bicentennial Alliance events. An impressive naval fleet of five Tall Ships and ten Gunboats will be joined by twenty four Regiments taking part in this grand reenactment.
