On the fantastic strip of Las Vegas Boulevard, which only really comes to life at night, you can find most of the stars in the heavens seem to have been used to light up the famous hotels and casinos. The architecture is of unbridled enthusiasm from someone's dreams put to concrete and steel. These pictures were taken during my 2006 vacation in the desert paradise and I even stayed in a pyramid which beamed out a solid blue light up to the sky - you couldn't miss getting back to your hotel!
A survey of local residents by Expedia's show places like the Fremont East Entertainment District and the Downtown Arts District are 'must see'attractions. Expedia has also worked with Las Vegas native James P Reza who also picked the Neon Museum which is a boneyard of rescued signs and the Mob Museum displaying the organized crime connection of the city's past.
“Las Vegans know their city is an exciting and unique place to visit because of The Strip. However, the locals we surveyed were equally enthusiastic about other attractions and activities in and around Las Vegas that they felt visitors should make a point of experiencing” said Sean Shannon, Vice President and Managing Director of Expedia.ca Canada. “As Canada’s Sin City experts, Expedia.ca encourages savvy travellers who appreciate the value of local recommendations to take advantage of our annual Vegas Sale which offers savings of up to 60 per cent off so they can experience the ‘other’ Las Vegas as suggested by these ‘local insiders’ with the money they saved on their booking.”
I know we loved to visit the casinos - but there are too many to see in a short visit. Drop in, drop some dough, take a look around then onto the elevated monorail to the next outlandish casino. We gambled very little as we tend to take advice of locals and spend time at the entertainment, shows and attractions that fill the exciting city that sits in a desert.
Expedia has more expert travel advise and travel packages, I love this line from Expedia "Travellers who bundle their hotel and flight together can misbehave for even less – with an average of $300 savings per person". Go forth and misbehave! Now you can design your own Las Vegas style sign for a chance to win a vacation in the city that has almost 39 million tourists from all over the world visit in 2011!
