WHEREAS the Toronto Argonauts will host the 100th Grey Cup game, the country's largest professional sporting event.
The Grey Cup is the second oldest trophy in North American professional sports, founded and commissioned by then Governor General of Canada, the Earl Grey, in 1909. Hosting the 100th Grey Cup game inToronto where it got its start will provide a perfect opportunity to reflect upon the history and culture of football in our country and celebrate this iconic Canadian tradition.
The 100th Grey Cup Festival will be held from November 15 – 25, 2012, creating an unforgettable experience for football fans who will travel to Toronto from coast-to-coast. On November 25, the 100th Grey Cup game will be watched by millions of people across Canada and in more than 160 countries worldwide.
Sport has long been a medium with the power to build global partnerships, bridge cultural, ethnic and social divides and encourages the spirit of friendship and camaraderie amongst sports enthusiasts.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Rob Ford, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim November 15 – 25, 2012 as "Grey Cup Festival Week in Toronto " and encourage everyone to participate in the various festival events across the city including the 100th Grey Cup game.

Then most of the fun starts on the weekend with the Zipline in Nathan Phillips Square along with the Cavalcade of Lights (Saturday), the Family Zone in Yonge-Dundas Square and the Santa Claus Parade on Sunday. Other fun during the festival includes Cheer-Dance Days, Street Curling, the Adrenaline Zone and the Scotiabank Football Experience and Fan Zones. The Telus Street Festival on Front Street starts Friday, November 23 and finishes on Sunday, November 25.

Sadly the outdoor rink at Nathan Phillips Square is still under construction and won't open until December 1 - long after the festival cleanup is done. You can see the zipline tower on the left side of the above photo.
The Eastern final game in Montreal is Sunday, November 18 between the Toronto Argonauts and the Montreal Alouettes. On the same day the Western final features the Calgary Stampeders against the BC Lions. The grand finale Grey Cup Championship Game is 6 pm on Sunday, November 25 in the Toronto Rogers Centre.
The Championship Game Halftime Show will include "one of the greatest collections of Canadian musical talent ever assembled with international superstar Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Marianas Trench, and Gordon Lightfoot lighting up the SiriusXM Grey Cup Half-Time Show and Burton Cummings and Johnny Reid headlining a special Kick-Off Show."
