The show is presented by National Bank and finishes January 27 (House and Home Sunday) from 10 am - 6 pm in the north building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The main KRUPS stage had chats hosted by House & Home leaders Lynda Reeves Mark Challen and Suzanne Dimma with Hudson Bay President Bonnie Brooks, designer Brian Gluckstein and HGTV personality and designer Tommy Smythe. Industry experts John Gidding, Christiane Lemieux and Douglas Coupland provided advice and hot tips.
Metropolis has way cool stuff on display
A balloon display by multimedia artist Willy Chyr of Chicago called 'As Luck Would Have It' hung above the escalators that took visitors up to the show. The first thing that attendees saw when they got off the elevator were the KIA cars wrapped by several designers like Karim Rashid and Douglas Coupeland.

The Blu Dot Auction in support of ONEXONE was back with several one-of-a-kind chairs that were re-imagined by various designers and artists.

An IDS13 weekend in #Toronto

Interior Design Show 2013 (@IDSToronto) puts the art into furniture and home accessories during the weekend event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The opening night party happens Thursday, January 24 with Professional Trade Day on Friday and two days of general admission happening Saturday and Sunday.
Innovative and new designs can be found in the over 300 exhibits in the north building of the convention centre. One of the featured trends is a blending of colour and pattern with an opening night KIA showcase of four cars individually wrapped by Karim Rashid, Christiane Lemieux, Douglas Coupland and Jürgen Mayer H. You can see more of last year's show on my post here, otherwise see you on the weekend at IDS13.

#Toronto International Boat Show 2013

It was a Forrest Gump of watercraft at the @TorontoBoatShow - canoe boats, sailboats, power boats, paddle boats, cruising boats, yacht boats.... You can catch the show and Captain Jack, pictured above at the Sunsail booth, until January 20 at the Direct Energy Centre in Exhibition Place "put some SUMMER in your winter!" Downtown was empty because everyone seemed to be at the boat show, buying boats from the looks of all the SOLD signs.
Diane Reid of One Girl's Ocean Challenge poses with her #175 6.5m open class mini sailboat in the background, above. She will be going on a solo adventure when she crosses the Atlantic Ocean with a race from France to Guadeloupe in October 2013 with seventy to one hundred other sailors.
The race takes over four weeks and takes a lot of courage, skill and the ability to fall asleep while tossing about all alone on the high seas.
Moving from solo sailboats to a high speed powerboat racer is Tammy Wolf, shown above with her red, mercury powered boat.

You could check out all the boats including the big ones - but you generally had to line up and take off your shoes to get onboard. Besides the gigantic showroom floor filled to the gunwhales and the World's largest indoor lake, other areas of the show included Cottage Country and Mariner's Marketplace.
The Marlies rink was waterproofed and filled with over a million gallons of Lake Ontario water and used for boat demonstrations and rides as well as an exciting wakeboarding competition. Rockstar helped to sponsor the Winter Wake Fest and there were a couple of Rockstar ladies in bright pink dresses.

The wakeboard professionals were pulled by an overhead cable system that powered them through the course. There were two jumps set up and one had a Rockstar target high in the air that the boarders would try to hit after going off the jump. They went high in the air and they came down hard with many a spill in the cold water their reward for a not quite so perfect jump.

Lake at the @TorontoBoatShow

Taking over the #Toronto Marlies hockey rink is the World's largest indoor lake for boaters being built right now for the upcoming Toronto International Boat Show taking place January 12-20, 2013. The Direct Energy Centre in Exhibition Place will become boat central during the early winter show and will have over 1,200 boats of all types available for perusing. The 2013 live lake cam shows that blue liners are currently being placed in advance of adding over one million gallons of Lake Ontario water (talk about cold, fresh water). See more photos of the 2012 show on my post here.
The Show is billed as Thrills without the Chills and there is a special preview night for charity on January 11, tickets $100 and $40. The sailboat and the large yacht pictured here are seen playing around the waters of Toronto Harbour.
Time to get a bigger boat?
